The Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 gives full-time employees four working weeks of paid annual leave a year — 20 days on a five-day week. There are three permitted calculation methods and the employee is entitled to whichever gives the greater result: four working weeks where 1,365 hours were worked, one third of a working week per month in which at least 117 hours were worked, or 8% of hours worked capped at four working weeks.
Part-time employees are pro-rated: divide the full-time allowance by five and multiply by the days actually worked. The 8% method usually suits employees with irregular patterns better.
Ireland's ten public holidays are a separate entitlement on top of annual leave, unlike the UK where they can be counted within it.

Four working weeks a year, which is 20 days for someone working a five-day week, under the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. Part-time employees receive a pro-rata amount, calculated by whichever of the three statutory methods gives the greater entitlement.
No. Ireland's ten public holidays are a separate statutory entitlement on top of the four weeks of annual leave. This differs from the UK, where employers may count bank holidays inside the statutory allowance.
One of the three statutory calculation methods gives employees 8% of the hours they work as annual leave, capped at four working weeks. It generally produces the best result for employees with irregular hours or short service.
Statutory annual leave should normally be taken within the leave year or within six months after it. Employees who could not take leave due to illness may carry it forward for up to 15 months after the end of the leave year.
